| Now I know this entry will be sort of out of date, because this movie, Snow Cake, was released ages ago. But then, don't forget that I live in Russia and, naturally, here it has been released (hah, should say pirate copies were being sold everywhere) as a faulty one - namely the original sound track had been deleted for a reason unknown to me. Now, those who know me should know that I would NEVER EVER watch a movie unless it has an original soundtrack! Especially not if the movie is in English. Especially not if the movie has Alan Rickman in it. There's no point in watching that in Russian (ok, I watched a bit of Robin Hood in Russian and the way they dubbed Mr Rickman nearly made me puke - there is no voice like his and that man ACTS with his voice).
Anyway. That movie is amazing. Truly amazing. Not only Alan's acting is perfect (that we know), but all of the cast is just right. You know what I mean? When every single person that appears in the movie is there and should be there exactly when it appears. When every single line that is spoken is in it's right place and you can actually get what the director and the cast meant, when they were making the movie.
Now, what I should have mentioned before is that the story is brilliant. After you've watched the film you are left with a special feeling inside you - you can't really say what that feeling is, but it's strong, complete and clear. It makes you want to do good things, makes you want to share things with other people - look at me, I'm adding a blog entry and that's something (considering how "often" I do that!). The story makes you wonder why there wasn't a story like that before? Why some obvious things, like love and friendship usually are showed as important in only second-rate movies and books? Or books for children. Don't we all need to love and be loved? What is the point in trying to be cooler and more successfull than your neighbour, colleague etc even if that's not what you really want? I think, this movie teaches us to accept things as they are and be ourselves. |
