The End of the Beginning

The sky fell down and he lies bleeding,

The earth is weaving a shroud for her lover.

The stars gathered round, the moon is weeping,

The clouds descend like a ghostly cover.

There is no sun and there is no day –

They have been swallowed by the serpent of fire.

The garden of love began to decay

And smoke is rising like a solid spire.

Emptiness came when the time was gone.

The night is building a coffin of blackness.

Then from the lake of death, like a black swan

The angel of wrath brought down the darkness.
