Watercolour Sky

Spring touched the watercolour sky

as I watched how transparent sunset

gently embraced faint dawn.

And then they disappeared

somewhere between today

and infinity.

I saw the wind caress the trees

and heard him humming a lullaby,

but they were whispering their prayers

and didn’t hear it.

Then I felt the mist touch my heart

with her soft cold hand

and all my regrets came back.

But the night comforted me

and pulled her velvet cloak round my shoulders.

And the starlight kissed away my tears.
